One of the greatest joys of this job is that I get to meet so many different and uniquely beautiful people along the way and they’ve chosen me to document their love for each other. I mean that’s a big deal! I love the feeling when I know my couples feel comfortable and start to have a good time in front of the camera, because that’s part of my job is to make this process relaxed and fun.

 
 

Meet  Mari

Now a little glimpse into my life: I was born in Japan, raised in Pennsylvania, attended college at Clemson University and now reside in the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina!  I love spending quality time with my friends, which normally takes place at the local brewery on any given Saturday.  I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Sam, and we have a kitty named Neko.  My family is large, loud, and the best thing to ever happen to me. I’m one of five siblings and the very proud aunt to eight of the cutest kids ever!

Here are some of the answers to our most asked questions about photography, my process and booking.

 

 

> We want to book, now what?

A signed contract and deposit are required to save your date in my calendar, so head over to my contact page to get in touch!

> HOW DO WE DETERMINE HOW MUCH TIME WE NEED?

It all depends on what you want documented. If you want me there from the minute you start getting ready to the time you’re headed home, then 10 hours would be your package. If you want coverage starting from when you’re almost photo ready to your exit, then 8 hours might be your best fit. If you want just your ceremony and reception with portraits sprinkled in, then 6 hours would be just right.

>CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY PACKAGE to fit my needs?

You can add on a la carte items, like extra hours, a second photographer (if it’s not already included), and an engagement shoot (again, if it’s not already included)!

> When do we get our photos?

I estimate around 2 weeks for engagement photos and 4-6 weeks for wedding photos.

> How do we receive our photos?

I’ll send over a link to your password protected online gallery where you can view, download and print your images. This gallery will be available to you for one year.

> Will there be any extra fees?

The only extra fees that I add are for travel over 60 miles and anything else that’s added would be from the a la carte section.

>HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SHOOTING STYLE?

I’m a laid back person, I like to blend in and capture those candid moments. I want to create an environment where everyone is comfortable and can truly be themselves around me. That being said, the one part of the day I like to take charge is family photos, to ensure we get all the combos you want and to make sure it runs as quickly and smoothly as possible. The three words I use to describe my style are: relaxed, fresh and meaningful and I hope that’s evident in my work!

> Where do you take engagement PHOTOS?

I have tons of recommendations around the Charlotte area for engagement photos including: parks, parking decks, rose gardens, etc. The decision is up to you though and I love finding new locations through my clients!

> Can we do an outfit change during our engagement session?

Yes, I allow one outfit change during your shoot. Please keep in mind you might end up changing in your car if there’s no bathrooms available at the location we pick!
